I'm curious - is there a specific reason why this forum is set up to view only the past 90 days of threads?

Wouldn't that mean that threads older than this be inaccessible to indexing?

The argument of "current" wouldn't seem to make sense, as any forum threads are a good way to catch traffic through capture of lesser traffic search terms.

Or is it a default setting no one thought to change? :aloha:

It's a good question Brian. The pages are still there, just not shown by default when you pull up a particular forum. There are many in the SE indexes that no longer show by default.

Actually the default is 30 days of posts and we reset it to 90 but I don't know why we wouldn't show all of them. We don't have processing power or bandwidth issues, so there's not really a reason to limit it.

Thanks for the suggestion. :aloha:

No problem - I have the display criteria on my own forums set for 10,000 days, to aid spidering. The links to the older content are always going to be pretty weak, but as spiders tend not to like drop down boxes, at least that part of my content is accessible for helping pull in extra visitors. :D
