someone who has ftp password to folder inside of root for editing a page mentioned to me that I was lacking robots.txt . Just wondering how this can be found out from just limited access to a folder? I am wondering if my acccess rights are messed up making my other folders vunerable to this person.

robots.txt should be located at

http://www.domain.com/robots.txt

Anyone can check to see if it is there.

Yeah, finding the robots.txt is easy.

If you're really concerned that this ftp user may not be effectively jailed into their little area, simply log in on their account and see if you can move around into places that you don't want them seeing.

When participating in a link exchange, it's often worth checking sites you exchange links with aren't using a robots.txt file to block spider access to the atual links page. ;)

You seriously think it doesn't happen? :aloha:
