I think that the term SEO is too technical,
not everybody knows that this is a acronym.
I thought about other possible terms like: web-mastering or webbing.
But the more knowledgeable members would propose more suitable terms.

There are plenty of other names out there, like search marketing, internet marketing, website optimization, etc.

not to mention that there are plenty of other jobs/services in the world with equally unusual titles. Would someone know what webmastering was any more than SEO?

Webmastering is most definitely not SEO.

Webmastering is most definitely not SEO.

This may be changing. I've been cruising web design classifieds lately and have seen more than one help-wanteds looking for people who are proficient in all of above, including SEO, aside from also being an expert with multiple programming languages.

In other words, they want to hire a person who knows more than just the web design aspect.

How do you define webmaster? I guess a guy could be a webmaster and not know how to do design a page, do SEO, etc.
