In a previous lifetime I was a remodeling contractor, then a programmer, a web guy, and now an Internet services provider.

The first several had this much in common, trying to understand the customer's vision and then implementing it as best as possible in the real world without losing your shirt.

There were always several artistry points... understanding the customer, translating desires into possibilties, excellence in craftsmanship, and making money.

I find this wicket to be fuzzier. I am not sure what will serve my customers best, I am ignorant as to typical costs, etc.

At least I have the volumious outpourings here and elsewhere to make some crude estimates of skill levels.

What I don't know and have not seen any help on is how to hire an SEO team.

I decided that links came first and then posted a query in the links forum.
That worked great and I got good referrals and some idea of costs.

So the question is, do you just fire off mails saying 'here is a site, what would you charge to have your way with it?' or is there some analog to the blueprint or pseudocode spec that I am missing.

I hope this makes sense...

Gary
