Hello,
I'm new at SEO. I've looked through the forum and can't find anything on this.
I have two domains, one that reflects my company name and one that is better for SEO. My plan was to use the company name one in all literature, business cards, etc. It's short and sweet and easy to remember (the other is long with dashes etc). I had thought that I'd put the home page on the short company named domain and then all links would go to this other one that is better for SEO (I'm not an SEO person, my SEO guy tested this latter domain and it tested well). I have a number of questions:
1. Is this a good idea? (I'm worried maybe it isn't)
2. Is this a common practice? (I've never noticed it anywhere, but then . . .)
3. Will the name of the domain matter a great deal? i.e. would it be better simply to optimize the one domain with the company name and not worry about the other?
Honestly, I'd rather just have the short, sweet company named domain for everything, but I also want to make sure that I'm being SEO smart.
Thanks for your help.

Just use the company name, the URL has almost no impact on the SEO of your site.

Thanks. After I wrote this question I spent another couple of hours on this forum (I'd already spent about an hour here). Great forum! Though I didn't see this question addressed specifically, I came to the same conclusion. Thanks for a great forum. I'll be bookmarking this one.
