Do you think bidding directories are worth submitting to? There're ones that have high pagerank and the links are placed just one click away from the homepage, how much seo value will I get from them?

I find them to essentially be link farms. Not the kind of place most want to be associated with.

IMHO, depends on many factors:
whether the page where you link would appear is indexed or not.
domain authority of the site
page rank of linking page
number of listings on that page
co-citation / quality of links
personally i would not like my sites to be associated with any bidding directory.
