Hi all, new to this forum page, looks good!
I would like to ask a question
If site a has a rank of 0-1 and gets a link on a site which has a rank of say 7
will that boost siteA rank? And usually how long till you see a change in pagerank?
one last question please.
Does the link have to be a straight forward link as in links page or can it come in the form of a ad link on the site?
thanks for all the help

the link can come in any form (an image or text) but the text should be a hardcoded link. (no java or redirects)

it honestly depends how many links are on the PR7 page as to how much it will boost your pagerank.

a pagerank 7 with only a couple links on it will boost your page much more than a pagerank 7 page chuck full of hundreds of links

also remember it could be a high 7 or a low 7 and that factors which give it that pagerank could change in the next month

generally your pagerank will be updated in about a month and I would expect to go to a 4 or 5 from a single pr 7 link (unless it was a strong 7 with few links, in which case i would expect a pr 6 or possibly a low 7)

Hi frankybme! :propeller:

Welcome to the forum.

As Aaron says- often ad links will have tracking parameters that prevent them from being counted as a direct link to your site. Check to make sure the link is just a simple link to your page.

As to how much it counts, it depends on how many other links there are on the page. The "voting power" of the page is split among all the links on the page, so a PR 7 page with tons of links might not be as valuable as a PR4 page that only links to yours.

As to when it counts... these days you never know. It depends on when Google updates their database.

Thank you very much for the info, very helpful
What do you think about buying a link or ad in in a high ranked site withen a sites field or niche? To help boost a low ranked sites rank

I thought buying links was an extremely bad call not that long ago, but its just like placing an ad in the newspaper.

You want many of your links to come in free, but it does not hurt to rent or buy a few links to help you along.

There are many free links in directories and probably a few directories specific to your niche Finding Directories Page

Welcome Frankybme !

Aaron already said it all again, so I'll just shut up now. :propeller: Well, cept that you may also want to check out ISEDB for directories in your market that will help you get those incoming links.
