Can anyone give me a steer on this

I have a keyword that has 4000 impressions but just 24 clicks. No problem there, it suggests to me the advariation is not particularly relevant

But this is the bit that is puzzling me. Google is now displaying this text next to the keyword 'Ads rarely show due to low quality score'.

Does Google see this lack of relevance (quality score) and stop showing the Advariation on that keyword?

Maybe i misunderstand 'impressions' i understood this to be the amount of times an Advariation is displayed. Is that right?

I suppose the reason i am a little thrown is that i read impressions as another form of search popularity for a particular keyword ie If the impression are high on a keyword then a lot of people must be searching with that keyword. If however because of the quality Score Google is simply not displaying the Ad anymore then my assumption is a little off.

Quality Score looks at your Ad Group, the keywords inside of that ad group, the ad title and the ad text. It also looks at the landing page that the ad is sending users to and compiles all that information to determine Quality Score.

If Google finds that something is amiss you will receive a lower Quality Score. A lower Quality Score will show your ads less and also bump up your minimum bids, if you don't improve your QS soon you will start to see your minimum bids shoot up. You are also sitting at .6% CTR which is low and you should work on raising that. This is due to your ad text and people not being interested so work on the ad copy and try to figure out what gets people to click.

Impressions is the number of times that your ad is displayed to a user. So yes, the more impressions an ad receives the higher the popularity it is in the search engines.

You can also try out using Yahoo. They do not have as many searches but there are still people out there making plenty of money with Yahoo. They are a little bit less strict when it comes to rating ads and how relevant they are. If you are new to PPC it is a good place to start because you can learn what ad text works without having to worry about your bids being bumped up to $5 or more. You can get $100 free when you sign up with a new account and it costs $30 to get the account activated.

That's an indication of your quality score at this instant.

With all due respect, I've been having the same problem and I don't think your advice is appropriate to this situation. I had 46 keywords all performing well, when suddenly they were flagged with "Ads rarely show due to low quality score." I am unable to trigger these ads even when I search for the exact keywords on Google. It isn't about competition. Some of these keywords are unique. No one else is bidding on them. Yet my client's ads do not run.

The keywords appear in the ads exactly and on the landing page of the site itself, so we can't call it lack of relevance. I've tried everything and I keep coming back to some kind of a bug in the Adwords system. Unless it's something I'm doing wrong, but I'm not new at this and have had dozens of successful campaigns before. This is something new.

There doesn't seem to be any reason why Google would "penalize" us for selecting keywords that are unpopular. Even if we only get a few clicks a day, we'll be happy. As it is, no ads are running and no keywords seem to trigger the ads.

I just joined searching for this problem... My Ads were exceeding my expectations with a QS of 7/10 when suddenly it became 1/10 and stopped dead in its tracks. There is no competition for my search term so I'm incredibly confused about how to resolve the problem.

Thanks, in advance, for the help!
