Hi,

Is there any method to find out which shopping cart is being used by a ecommerce site when we view the website?

Thanks for any help provided

It depends.

If they're not doing any url rewriting it's usually pretty easy to tell just for the URLs that get produced, assuming you're familiar with some of the major shopping carts. For instance, if it's a php site and you see a variable in the cart pages named cPath it's probably an OSCommerce site, or one of its knockoffs like ZenCart.

Sometimes you can also pick up on the cart being used by viewing the source code of some of the pages. Even if there's not a meta or comment in there somewhere stating the cart (people often miss those when they alter templates) you can look at the paths being used for things like the css files and pretty much figure out the cart being used. If it's one of the major ones anyway.

So while there's no way to be 100% sure without being able to see the actual code that produces the page, 9 times out of 10 you can usually guess it from the way the site is constructed and little hints that show up in the source code.
