Hi there,

We are a start up company, and about a year ago we looked into buying a domain name from a company for a considerable amount of money (for a start-up anyway!). At the time it had a little bit of relevant content on the site to what we were doing and we felt that it was a good domain name, good age etc.

We have now raised the funding that we need for the company but have discovered that the domain is now parked and pointing towards porn (we don't intend to be an adult site), the name servers are [removed] basically soft porn.

Here is some brief info on the domain:
Current Rankings:
PageRank: Not Ranked
Alexa Rank: Not Ranked

Incoming Google Links: 2
Incoming Yahoo Links: 7
Incoming MSN Links: 0
Incoming Alexa Links: 3
Overall Incoming Links: 12 (Overlap is possible - Estimated 10 unique links)
Outgoing Links: 2 (Ratio: 1.000% - Each Link Receives Approx. 0.000 PR)

Page Information:
Description: [removed] ALERT The site you reached has sexually explicit content. All models are over 18 yrs old. Permission to enter this web site and to view its contents is...

Online Since: May, 1997

DMOZ Listed: No
Archive.org Listed: Yes

What we are trying to ascertain is what difference this will make in the eyes of Google, how much it will affect our SEO (will the porn be detrimental to it?) etc and is there anything we can do about it.

We are entering into a very competitive online space and are conscious that we need to get our SEO right and being a start-up we don't have much money!

Thanks in advance,

Al

I wouldn't want it if I were choosing.

Why are you so desperate to have this domain name and why are you worried about current content, I take it you will be putting your own , non-porn content on the site if you were to take ownership right?

There's an old saying "Give a dog a bad name.................."
Who knows what and how long this Porn association effect is going to be and your list of Yardsticks for this domain is most unimpressive. I would rather start from scratch if it were me.
