Many of you here are running SEO companies in your local area.
When you create and present a proposal to potential clients regarding SEO for their existing websites, what do you do about their hosting login details?
Is it ok to ask them for their login details so you can edit and upload pages?
Do you have any clauses in your contracts regarding login details?

Hi,
If you're a search engine optimizer, I suggest you not to ask for login details, write your recommendations and send it to the webmaster.
Only if you build a new website, ask for login details.

Yes, it's ok. They may or may not provide them to you, however.

I ask, and in the process of asking, I explain exactly why I'll need the credentials and for how long, and I make sure to suggest -- both when I ask and when I confirm with them that I'm done and no longer need them -- that they should change their password when I'm finished so I no longer have access. Or I suggest they give me a "special" login ID of my own (some web hosts offer this capability) so they can track what I've done if need be, and disable the ID if they ever feel uncomfortable with anything I've done.
Frankly, I don't want access to their account any longer than necessary. It's a security risk for them, and a potential liability for me.
Anyway, the idea is to make sure they feel as comfortable as possible that I'm looking out for their interests and I have their data security at heart. (An easy task, since I am, and I do!)
