Hi All -

I was wondering if you could recommend some of the conversion tracking tools you're using and your rationale behind using them. How do they work? How do they install? etc.

Also, from reading prior posts, I realize the importance of researching keywords, researching competitors' keywords and bids, and writing good copy. Any other suggestions?

Our client doesn't technically sell anything on their site. They are an association of automotive repair specialists. Their web site is designed to drive customers in need of repairs to the nearest member. This is accomplished with the use of a shop locator on the site. Our client makes money in a roundabout way because the shops purchase parts from the client's parent company.

Is a site like this a good candidate for a PPC campaign? More visitors to the site should mean more visits to the shops which should result in more repairs being done and consequently more parts being sold.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Yinzer, I moved your post to our Stats and Tracking ROI category.

I think if you browse the other posts in this category, you'll find many tools have been discussed here, which may answer your question.

Hi Yinzer,

You don't need to be selling something to see the benefit of PPC, the important thing is that people find the site when they are searching and in turn, that should, in theory, turn into more sales. Using PPC can put you ahead of the competition in the listings. But really in the end, you'll have to analyze what was spent on PPC and how many people called one of the shops for service. This is obviously a lot harder to analyze since you cannot know for sure how many people called the shops from going to the site, but you can get a good estimate.

You could for example, set up a conversion to track when someone uses the locator tool because if they are using that then there may be a good chance that they will also pick up the phone and call if they find a shop in their area. If you can find a correlation like that then you can make good use of a converstion tool and mixed with a good campaign tracking tool you can get a good estimate of how your PPC advertising is doing.
