I saw this site with a PR2. But using both Google and Alltheweb Link Checkers, not even a single link appears. How can it do this? Can i explain that it DOES have link which simply does not show up? Thanks for you input.

Hi Newsphinx, welcome

A site has a PR all of its own due to its internal lnks. That said, there must have been a link somewhere for Google to have found it in the first place!

Thanks OWG.

So you also agree that the site does have links, just not being shown in Google result. The site have over 300 pages indexed by Google. None of his internal pages is counted as backlinks according to Google.

Yes unless you submitted your site to Google, (in which case it tends to hit the first page, then waits to find another link before deep spidering) there HAD to be a link to your site from somewhere.

Do a Google search on "www.mydomain.com" (including the quotes) and you will get all indexed web pages with this text. Many of these will be backlinks.

The Google link: search only shows a subset of the backlinks it knows about, probably mostly those with PageRank of 4 or more.

Yes, as Barry said, just because a site doesn't show any backlinks in Google doesn't mean it doesn't have any. Google only shows some links, not all.

Stupid Question but, where the heck do I actually see the actual PR number. On Google tool bar I see the green bar at the top but many will quote a certain number like 4, 5. What am I missing?

Hover your cursor over the green bar, you should get a pop up box with the PR.

Or if you're really a glutton for punishment and have time to waste, find the site in the Google Directory, view the source and pay attention to the width of the IMG tag for the green and grey parts of the PR representation there. :yuk:

A quick way to do this is to do a Google Search for www.mydomain.com (without quotes). This now brings up the Google reference to the website together with the right Google directory category, if your website is included.

Another nice feature of the Google directory is that you can also see how your competitors rate for PageRank. That assumes that they come up in the same category.

I have run a check on my website on Google, my domain in quotes, heres the results.

It gives one link to the website.

under this the other results are as follows,

Googles chache page- No highlighted keywords at all. Normally there are, is it because I have removed all of the bold text from the homepage?

Similar pages - Did not match any documents.

Link to - Did not match any document.

Contain the term - 3 pages of external links refering to my site.

Any ideas? we were ranked 5th before Gladys, we now have a page rank of 3.

There's no highlighted words because you didn't find the page in Google by keywords.

Oh, that simple, lol....... Cannot find the site at all on google, although obviously still within it somewhere, gave up at page 20 searching.

Strange how the site is still extremely high elswhere, 1st Gigablast, 3rd Lycos UK, 4th MSN UK and 5th Inktomi yet Giggle decided to drop us.
