I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the ethics or down right laws about advertising and marketing people using blogs and forums to discuss their products/services. I used to do it in California, always disclosing my affiliation with the provider, but I'm told it is not legal in the EU. I can't believe this to be true since I see people who do it all the time, but what I beleive and what is actually true are often very different things! (imagine)

Here is the situation, in case specifics make the difference. I work for A ad agency. They would like me to search for blogs and forums about spread betting so that I can offer up our client's services when appropriate - again I would always disclose my affiliation.

When someone on this forum asks which keyword tool is best, can someone who works for Trellian not pipe up?

I'm a girl with a time deadline so any quick responses will be greatly appreciated!

I don't know the laws, but I would think it's really up to the individual blog owners as to what they allow.

I think perhaps what you're thinking of is when bloggers do reviews of specific products, whether or not they have to disclose that they received payment or something like that.
