I am experimenting with link units on a different part of a sites page to the location of the normal ad unit - the link units are at the footer of the page - so users have scrolled down and can no longer see the ad units.
This seems to be adding a small amount of income at the moment - but the click through rate is only 10% of the normal panels - though of course the impressions are the same.
Does smart pricing work independently for link and ad units? - as it appears to me that these are different animals with likely different profiles.
I am concerned that over time the lower click through rate will impact on my overall account.
Originally I had ad units in that location - but my overall performance improved when i removed them as smart pricing seemed to reward the better results from lower numbers of units.
Thanks
