Reading through the posts it seems I've experienced all the problems listed and more, until that is, I discovered a great host who provided very good stat apps with the hosting account. I didn't pay over the top for the hosting and got about 5 different stat applications, including Urchin5 and Awstats that crunch my logs for me and gave me all the nice stuff like Click tracks, referrals etc etc.
As with everything you never get exactly what you need in 1 package and having the ability to look at your stats using 3 or 4 different packages is fantastic.
So my advice is do some careful research and find a good host with an all inclusive package.

Yes- it's really nice to have a variety of pre-installed stat packages and it's getting more common. One host I use has 3 different programs and from time to time, I check things in all 3 of them. You can learn interesting things that way!

That's worthless information because that's not what people searched for.
One thing I haven't seen offered by a hosting company is a stats program offering conversion analysis. It's certainly something worth paying for if you're spending time and money marketing your site online.

We had already built our own little conversion analysis thing and I'm used to it. Plus, I find it easier since I can simply dump the database and throw it into Excel for sorting.
