Hey guys, I have a question. I registered a domain www.mydomain.com with Godaddy and signed up for hosting just yesterday. It's taking a while for the change in name servers to take effect (from the default in Godaddy to Pair's). I already set up my FTP so that I can access my files on the server.
However, when I type in my www.mydomain.com, I get a 404 Not found error saying " The requested URL /my-do-main/home.html was not found on this server", and the URL in the address bar becomes mydomain.com/my-do-main/home.html. You see how the URL is repeated, but is broken up by dashes? The thing is, that error shows up when I upload an HTML page to the server. If I upload a .png or something and retype www.mydomain.com, then I see the Index of/ where it shows the files in that location (no 404 error).
I was only uploading a file to the server to 'test' to see the page, but is this error showing up because the change in name servers has not taken effect, or is it something else? Godadddy did say it might take about 48 for the nameserver changes to take effect. As of now, I removed all files from the location. So, do I wait until that time has passed to upload again, or is there a bigger problem?
This is my first time doing this on my own. I wanted to learn how to do it myself. But, is this a common problem?
Thanks

It sounds like there's a redirect set up somewhere. Can you take a look at what's in your .htaccess file? There are other server files that you may need your host to check as well.

Hi Jill, I have absolutely no files uploaded. I connect to the sever, then go to public_html to my area. but i don't have an htaccess, or any files there at all.

Send a support ticket into your host. They should be able to fix it.
