The Most Basic Blogger Seo Question - My Apologies

- Using blogger, you are not able to host your own blog, which impacts SEO, right?
If you have no idea what're doing, what is the best case scenario for SEO for a blog for a small company?

It seems like it is basically the latest fad, and everyone has jumped on board.
Some blogs make sense, those like Matt Cutts, who is an authority on Google and actually has something to say about things you really care about. There are others similar to that, where there is really something of value to someone other than the blog creators, but they are becoming few and far between.
It seems that is the biggest question - does your blog really offer something of value to anyone other than you.
You are right, it should be hosted on your own server.

OK, so using Blogger and then publishing to my company's site (which is what we are doing already) is the same as hosting the blog ourselves in terms of SEO? Blogger's help section says that they host the content, does that matter?
