Just thought I'd throw this out there.
A month ago I reported a competitor to Google for buying links.
The URL used for paid links has been doin quite well on Google since the links were bought, however, the URL ranks very poorly on Yahoo. I think Yahoo has done a better job at discounting those links. Yahoo does know about all of them according to the linkdomain command.
FYI the URL in question ranked poorly before the paid links were purchased, and ranks better than the homepage which is optimized for the same keyword on Google, so It's looking to me that paid links still have some juice value on Google, and Yahoo doesn't appear to be affected by it in this case. I'm noticing more and more that Yahoo is doing some things better than Google, from my experiences. Certainly in this case they've done a great job at defending itself against manipulation through the use of paid links.
Whether or not Google chooses to discount those links remains to be seen.

Glad to hear that Yahoo still has their "A" game.
I wonder if Google is just expanding so fast that their forgetting the main purpose of their site

Doh, thanks for moving my thread to the right forum.
Anyway, it could be that some of those links are getting past the Google filter, there was A LOT of links bought, 10s of thousands.
And maybe Yahoo isn't putting weight on them for other reasons, such as that virtually none of them have any content with the same topic of the keyword they're targeting.

Or maybe Yahoo hasn't found them yet?

Yahoo's site explorer shows all the links, that's what i meant by referring to the linkdomain command.

HA! very interesting indeed.
I checked into some of the other sites that use the same paid link service, and not surprisingly most of them rank well on Google for the keyword phrases they target. But do they rank well on Yahoo? No. Search engine manipulators win on Google, but not Yahoo? I thought it was the other way around.
So who says that Yahoo's index is full of spam? I wonder why people say that, perhaps it's because Yahoo doesn't have a Matt Cutts equivalent? Maybe if Yahoo had some outspoken employees they'd get more of a share in the search market. I hope somebody from Yahoo is listening, atleast when Yahoo's boys talk, it'll be fact, not wishy wash crap.

note on reporting... alot of discussion recently that the Search Engines are not doing enough to deal with "Spam reporters"
that is people who accuse other sites of buying a link. This is a difficult area for search engines, because they are not really wanting to be final arbiters but they have to be to some degree.
