Evening everyone,
As someone just getting their feet ..foot... wet I'm finding that I have more and more questions. Here's a simple one, I think..... thinking.gif
I've read that if you bold the anchor text that will somehow enhance your "google" footprint thumbup1.gif . Now for the question... there are times where I really don't want to do this because I think that it makes the content font look bad.
If I don't bold or italic the the anchor text will my google "juice " be less or remain the same if any? The anchor text that I'm having this head bang with links internally to another page in the site.
Thanks,
Bird Legs

think of your SEO campaign like what your viewers of the website would like to see? design for them and not for google, I like to put some text in bold if it is relevant to the viewer if it isnt then dont bold, however the idea of anchor text is to make it easy for people to navigate around your site quickly, I find having it in bold helps viewers identify a link.

I personally "don't" think it enhances but I could be wrong.

I bold and underline link when I place them in an article but thats purely so the user can see that it's a link.

I personally believe that is just another seo myth that is floating around there.

You are smart to question this! Never, ever, ever, ever do anything on any page of your website that you feel makes it look bad. Anything that is bad for your users won't enhance your website in the eyes of the search engines. In fact, that's how you can tell what a good thing for search engines is or not.

Is it better for users? Yes or no? If it is yes, then in all likelihood it might also be better for search engines as well.

Supposedly the <strong> tag gives more weight to keywords with Google, and thus it's better to have links with desired keywords bold in anchor text.
That of course, is a myth. I don't think it's true or has anything to do with weight in terms of Google. If you are looking to bold your anchor text, a good reason may be for traffic (to get people's attention).

Google favours naturally looking links. I don't think that people would normally bold or italic a link as it is already highlighted anyway. Don't think that this technique will have a positive impact on your Juice.
