Google Cache Problem
Posted 02 April 2008 - 07:11 AM
This is a strange problem, recently I launched a new version of our site that was nearly the same as the old site just some modifications to the title tag and meta tags.
Basically the site is displaying it in the search results but is not showing a cached version, just showing an error message when searching for the company name "mattressman" it shows it in the results but shows this error for the cache.
Your search - cache:BBb2t1TmTKEJ:www.mattressman.co.uk/ mattressman - did not match any documents.
Is this a problem? why is it doing it?
There was a slight problem in that the developer had disallowed all pages in the robots.txt file, this has been rectified and google has since indexed.
We kept the same site structure, but strange things are happeninng including where previous listings had been there now seem to be listings from the DMOZ directory. Will all of this settle down with a complete index of the site? What is the best way to get everything indexed quickly again? presumably a google site map?
If anyone can help it would be great.
Many Thanks George

That's probably why. Just give it a few more days to get reindexed completely. This stuff doesn't happen in real time.

Still having problems the index page of the site used to appear on page one of Google for "mattress" and "mattresses" but has now disappeared for these search phrases, even though the index page has been spidered by the Googlebot since the robot.txt incident. The index page is visible when "double mattress" is used as a search phrase (obviously mattress and mattresses are our two main key phrases so I am a bit worried). Am I panicking?
Also one other thing to add, we have added a google sitemap to get google to spider the whole site which it has done so.

The problem is those keywords have given those results for over 3 years now, they haven't just gone down in ranking they have disappeared altogether.
