Hi
On my blog I keep getting spam messages. Basicly lots of rendom text with links to
vi@gra sites and alike.
I have to moderate these comments before they go live. So they dont get published.
My question is...
Is there a way to stop this?
Thanks

The akismet plug-in that comes with Wordpress will stop most of that stuff. Do you have it enabled?

How do I submit missed spam?
If the comment is in the moderation queue, simply check the Spam radio button below that comment, and then click Moderate Comments ». If a comment was already published, select this comment for editing, then set the Comment Status to Spam and click Edit Comment ». Marking the comment as spam will submit it to the Akismet servers. Also, it will no longer display in the moderation queue or on your site, and it will be automatically deleted by the Akismet plugin after one month. When submitting previously not recognized spam to the Akismet service, Akismet will analyze the content and learn to recognize new spam patterns.

If you're on Wordpress.com, I believe Akismet is enabled by default. When you're in your blog's dashboard, under "Comments" you should see a sub-section for "Akismet Spam". If it indicates there are comments in there, you might want to check them from time to time (before the 30 days is up and they're automatically deleted). I have heard stories from some folks of legitimate comments being automatically flagged as spam by Akismet.
If you have a locally-installed version of Wordpress, you can check the Plugins menu item from the Dashboard and you should be able to tell if Akismet is enabled.

Yeh, I can see the Akismet plug-in Torka but it says I need aWordpress API key.
(The plug-in has not been activated)
I have checked under "Users" "Your Profile" but I cant find the key.
My Wordpress is installed localy.
I know it sounds dumb, but I dont know where to look.

There is a link from the plug in page. It should be right there in the message telling you you need the API. If you cant find it just goto WP and search on API key.
Good luck fighting the spammers

You get the API by having an actual Wordpress.com account -- just go there and sign up and you'll see it there on your profile page. You don't actually have to blog through WP.com unless you want to; you can just use the account to get your API key. You can use the API key for multiple locally-installed WP sites.

Thanks Torka Spot on!
Although I have a blog setup on my site I registered at Wordpress and and you get the option to "Just get an account"
I did this and they sent me an Akismet API Key.
I activated Akismet on my blog and, so far, the spammer, who was posting 4 times a day, has been stopped.
Thanks all
