This post probably isn't for Jill, given her trips to New Zealand and Hawaii. But are there any other members getting tired of the snow. My city has over 70 inches this winter. We're less than four inches away from a new record. I'm sick of shoveling and I'm sick of looking out the window at nothing but snow. Anyone else out there feeling the same way. And if so how are you coping?

You southern tropical types should stop bragging about your heatwaves.
Up here in cold Canada we have had early spring flowers for 2 weeks now

Right here in NC. It's been warm pretty much all winter, and we're in the middle of a major drought, again. Which is a bummer, because I like a bit of snow every now and then. Not as much as I had to deal with when I lived in the NYC area, but one or two good snowstorms per winter would suit me fine.

But we haven't had a decent snow here in years. Right now, in my yard the spring bulbs and forsythias are in full bloom with the camellias to follow shortly, probably within a few days.

And on the sorta flip side of the coin, as late as 1am last night the local stations and national weather service were predicting I'd have somewhere between 6 and 10 inches of snow, along with about a 1/2 or so of sleet/ice today. Weathermen being weathermen, they were wrong. Not a single flake fell here.

Of course they're going to ignore this small fact and claim Success because the snow just missed me. If you go 30 miles south or 30 miles east of me, where they were only supposed to get 2 inches tops, those poor folks got hammered by the storm. To the tune up up to a foot of snow and ice.

Funny thing... because it hit the metro area this time instead of blasting we lowly folks out in the boonies it's a major story. One local station (a Fox Network affiliate) even pre-empted their normal programming all day long to show weather stuff. lol.gif

How come they never do that when those of us in the boonies get hammered? Don't they know Paybacks are hell? jester.gif

It is all melting here in Chicago right now... the foot plus we've had on the ground.

Pre-release News: I am personally hoping to move to South Carolina in the next 60 days... after 21 years in Minnesota and the balance (26 years) at home here in Chicago, I want more Nascar and less snow. Looking at landing around Greenvile/Spartanburg.

Looking forward to the lack of snow and wind chill... I can visit my daughters and grandkids in Minnesota when I think I need a 'snow fix'

Be careful of what you wish for...

May I be the first to offer you a pre-welcome to the Carolinas, Scott! smile.gif

I'm from SC myself, and my dad's family is from the upstate. Dad graduated from Greenville High School back In The Day (that day would be sometime during the Late Middle Ages, I think).

Good luck with the move, and be sure to keep us posted.

Ugh! I can ship snow to anyone who wants it as well. cold.gif We've had snow on the ground since the middle of December. Last weekend we were finally getting to see some ground around the edges of the yards, but then we got hit with snow again. And this morning I woke up to another 6 inches, snow.gif so everything is covered again. girl_cray2.gif You better believe we have cabin fever here in the boonies of Minnesota!

It's time to fly to Naples and go to the pier. I'm ready to watch the pelicans and gulls. suntan.gif
