I'm curious as to how many have kids that take part in Webkinz. Kids purchase a stuffed animal with a code inside and then sign up at Webkinz. Then they create homes for their pets. What amazes me is that the kids can then interact online with friends who also has Webkinz. My son is 7. So he will most likely grow up with social media. I'm not sure if this is good or bad.

My kids are too old, but my newphew and nieces have Webkinz. I never heard of it before until Thanksgiving when they were talking about it. Seems kinda cool. I'm sure my kids would have loved it at their age. They were more into Neopets and Habbo Hotel.

My brother is 7, and I don't know if he's used any social media stuff but I'll be seeing him later and will ask.
I was, however, impressed when he came round the other day and told me I need a new computer, then opened firefox, went straight to google, searched for 'new computer', found the Dell site and picked out a pretty good one! I'm not sure if the choice of PC was luck or if he knows far more about them than I've previously given him credit for, but he was completely comfortable with searching, choosing a result that suited what he wanted and then looking round the website for something he liked.

My son is six, and recently when he was working on his homework and got stumped on a question, he suggested to me that we could go on the Internet and search for the answer. That's my boy!
While he does know how to fire up the 'puter and launch Firefox, and he does have his own custom start page -- which I set up for him using WordPress software -- outside of the carefully vetted kid-friendly sites linked from his start page, I don't let him surf unattended just yet.
Soon as I teach him to type, though, he's gonna be a blogger.
