Any one know good online PR book/author for someone who's getting started. I've browsed Amazon and there are numerous choices. unsure.gif

Holly Berkley -- Low-Budget Online Marketing

Mitch Meyerson -- Success Secrets of the Online Marketing Superstars

Justin Michie -- Street Smart Internet Marketing

David Meerman Scott -- The New Rules of Marketing and PR
Scott hs an online seminar but it cost more than his book.

Bruce C. Brown -- How to Use the Internet to Advertise, Promote and Market

Susan Sweeney -- 3G Marketing on the Internet

Beth Cole -- Signture Web Marketing: A Handbook for Professionals

As far as I'm concerned 90% of online PR is all about usability and delivering on user expectations. In other words, understanding who your target audience is, understanding what they need, then delivering. Having a good grasp on how to test to better understand what your users are trying to tell you is a definate plus too.

From this standpoint the only book I can recommend is an old standby by Steve Krug called Don't Make Me Think. Then start devling in to free conversion/usability places like grokdotcom.com and marketingexperiments.com.

I'd focus on learning copywriting skills first. Read books by Robert Bly on copywriting and you'll get a good foundation for your writing. Obviously there are differences between print and online, but the foundations are the same.

One of my favorite books is Buzz Marketing by Mark Hughes.
