If this is the case, then yes it's bad.
Pretty much any time you do anything with your web site where the main concern is the search engines it's a bad thing. Conversely, pretty much any time you anything with your web site where the main concern is providing the best experience for real users, it's a good thing.

No, actually they're not as they have the nofollow attribute on them.
It depends if those other sites link with nofollow attributes or not.
