I have a question for you guys if you dont mind and I hope this is the right spot to post it. I am in a different niche and have been thinking about this for quite some time. In my area there are no directories that actually serve a purpose. To me a directory should consist of a group of sites that are highly reccomended for a certain area not because of the links you obtain from them. Although there is a stigma I will call assocated with my niche there are a ton of little treasures out there who's goal is to provide useful content that is not only honest but well written. They are not there for the sole pupose of the almighty dollar. So I was thinking of creating a human editied directory for these sites along. very strict guidelines as to what would qualify etc. The difference between what I want to do and what is already out there is I would like to review each one (500 word article) that I post so that the person reading it would have something more to go on then just a 1 line sentance.

Here is the catch, if I post all the links to these pages on the child page it will look unorganized and imo nothing more than a directory of links. How would I do something like this without it being categorized as your average run of the mill directory , My main concern is I will be including this on my main site so I dont want to hurt the site by doing this but at the same time there are lots of blogs, and websites who deserve a little credit for taking the high road smile.gif

Thanks

I take it the page listing all the sites will link to the 500-word article about each site, which will be on a separate page for each one. I don't see anything wrong with this. If you think you can create something useful and informative where there's currently nothing, I think that's great.

Yes it will go homepage --> directory with categorized sections ---> categorized links with small descriptions ---> full page article about the site.

Thanks and I think this will work. There are alot of nonesense sites in my niche and I dont mind sending traffic to those who bust their butts off to build good sites smile.gif

What you can do is in addition to general information, i.e. title, description, keywords you can add the name of the author, when that article was written, maybe contact information, date it was written etc.

It will make your directory look different from others in your niche and give you more validity
