Just wondering what opinion people here have on the above link?

If it is the case, then great and hopefully they will continue to change the algorithm to ensure people cannot manipulate rankings to that extent.
Gee, that only leaves one option! Have a great website and people will come and SE's will rank it because it deserves it just for great quality content.

Links that are not reciprocated are things like articles, or source, where a site is 'touching' on a subject, and uses a link to show an example, or say a car showroom/insurance company. The car showroom might want to link to the insurance company, but not the other way round.

What you need to remember is this, even Google Answers stated that they don't know exactly what the makers do, change, tweak and so on. They stated it was their guess only. You are talking about running off and affecting change before anyone even knows exactly what outcome will eventuate. I would not change a single thing that you currently do for a good month or so and see what happens.
These updates seem to create panic. If they took the advice of the experts here, make a great site first and then worry about the search engines, there would honestly be less to worry about. Mate, leave it all alone and let a little time sort it out. Keep on motoring and try not to think hard about all this.

There are hundreds of theories out there, but nobody except Google knows exactly what they've done, and what they plan to do.
We have numerous posted theories at this forum too. I would suggest that you read up on those, also, if you're interested in all the gory details of what Google might be up to.
