Jill, where you think that to put sitemap and sitemap is necessary for better optimization?

Marcel, a sitemap should be a separate page of your site, not a pile of links at the bottom of your pages.

While in some circumstances it can be helpful, a sitemap isn't universally necessary for better optimization. The smaller the site is, and the better the "regular" on-site navigation is, the less you need a sitemap.

Jill curious on which is better. My sitemap is listed with each page in the proper categories, and right now it's roughly 70 pages so 70 links on the page. I came across one the other day where he built his basically like a "What I added this week" thing. Basically when he added a section he also wrote a detailed description to go with it. Does this add more to it. In one sense mine is easy to follow for the reader, they can quickly skim it where as his they cant..but with his it does not give the look of a links page and has content to go with it.
Thanks

Kaus, are those 70 pages already linked to from your main navigation? Is so, no reason to duplicate it. If not, then a simple link on every page pointing to your sitemap page that lists the 70 links is probably a better idea.

I would go with what you've got now Kaus. Sounds much more user friendly, and believe or not real people do use my site maps. Some even arrive there!
If you feel the need to do a What's New, I'd simply do it as a new page that you change as things are updated/added. Then you can link to this both from your main nav and your site map. People use those too, or at least I get a lot of repeat visitors using the What's New pages I have set up and linked to in my nav block
