Hi,
Anybody know of any good free hosting companies that let you host your domain name.

Not the ones that give you the MySite.theHostingcompany.com like geocities and anglefire.
I am looking for free hosting for just my domain (mySite.com) and its ok if they have advertisments on the pages.

???

Most "free" web hosts have you pay a slightly inflated domain registration fee. I've had experience with both of the following, and it's actually been rather good experience.

http://www.doteasy.com/
http://www.catalog.com/

If you do decide to cough up some dough, I've had excellent luck with Pair Networks. Netcraft also has a list of hosts with good uptime, for further "for-cost" hosts.

Hi Blue, try 1and1.co.uk or the .com

They are a UK company and are cheap, but have a good reputation. They were offereing free hosting on a limited basis in the US, they are part of the United Internet group.

May I add a further vote in favor of pairNetworks? I've been very pleased with their service and host all my current websites (as well as all but two of my clients' websites) with them. They've got pretty good prices (down to as little as around $6 per month, less if you prepay), and all their accounts are virtual server accounts, meaning you can host multiple domain names/multiple websites on a single account. Useful if you -- like me -- find domain names and websites to be like potato chips; can't stop with just one... ;)

I also signed up for the free service with 1&1 when they were launching here in the US. Haven't had much chance to work with it so far, though, so I can't really report on their quality of service yet.

I've been using Doteasy.com for my small, low traffic site. It cost me $90 US (it's a Canadian outfit) to register a domain for 5 years. Free hosting. No banners or ads required. I've had no problems.

You are better off paying for your webhosting IMO.
