In the three major engines, has anyone ever found a way to exclude individual keywords in an adgroup from appearing with Dynamic Keyword Insertion copy?
For Example. say your ad group has this copy:
{KeyWord:New Parkinson's Medicine}
Safely Improve Your Symptoms With
Once-Daily Dopamine Agonist Patch!
Is there a way to isolate certain keywords in that adgroup, so that they wont run the DKI copy?

Assuming you are talking about Google Adwords, the answer is no. You need separate ad groups for KI and non-KI keywords.

Using negative KW at the AdGroup level would prevent the ad showing at all - would that work?
From an organizational standpoint, the ad should reflect the KW entered, so if a KW is inappropriate for the ad copy (and the landing page), then it should likely either be excluded (via a negative KW entry) or put in its own AdGroup.

I agree with Alan and Hank.
One thing that you should have a close look at as well is that fact that Google sometimes displays your ad for keywords they THINK you are missing.
For example: I was bidding on
[holidays in south africa]
"holidays in south africa"
holidays in south africa
By looking at the stats I noticed that people came to my site that typed KENIA, instead of South Africa. That is very annoying when you are only selling trips to South Africa.
For you this could mean that other medicines pop up because of your keyword-incertion, that you do not even sell. You will need to be using a lot of negative keywords here.

Yeah thanks guys.
The problem stems from client issues. The keywords are appropriate for the product, ad copy, and landing page. But the client is in the pharmaceutical industry, and has very strict guidelines and oversight in relation to what words can/can't be used together. They literally have to approve every copy variation, including all the possible variations that can appear with dynamic keyword insertion.
It's a difficult issue in relation to utilizing broad match with DKI, because as RiYO mentioned, its difficult to totally control the keywords you appear for.
I could opt for exact match, but then I'd be limiting my reach.
I'll most likely just have to work without DKI.
thanks
