SEOChat is promoting a new service, Googlecount, that uses your Google API (which allows an individual 1,000 queries on Google per day).

As I spend a lot of time checking my sites' position for numberous key phrases, this may be able to save me some time for not a lot of money.

I got myself an API license from Google, and the terms say that:

"The Google Web APIs service is made available to you for your personal, non-commercial use only (at home or at work). You may only create a single account and must provide accurate identification, contact, and other information required as part of the registration process. You may not create any script or other automated tool that attempts to create multiple Google Web APIs accounts. And you may not use the search results provided by the Google Web APIs service with an existing product or service that competes with products or services offered by Google."

I imagine what Googlecount is doing is not withing these terms, and therefore using the service would also be. Though I now notice that commercial efforts can be developed if approved by Google. There is an email address at Google, so I may just e-mail them to be sure.

I did a trial, and the results weren't accurate -- though it is possibly because I requested results compared to the main domain and not a specific file. If you have to enter the URL of every file on the site, it may be more bother than it is worth.

Anyone else look into this?

Why didn't you just email me with your questions.

I am from the company that developed googlecount.

Let me address your questions. I am currently in negotiation with Google. They have asked me to rename the service in order not to include the name Google. So i will be doing that shortly. That is all, and I will be making this change very soon. Google is well aware of the application.

The results are a 100% accurate. It is possible that the URL you entered in not listed in Google with the "www." in front of it. I would simply enter in the domain name as "domain.com".

i have many customers so far, and all are very happy with it.

If you have more questions, feel free to PM me or post it here.

thank!

Rustybrick, I did e-mail you with the questions, and you responded promptly, thanks!

As there are so many various tools out there, I just wanted to see if anyone else had used yours. Also to see if any one else had an interpretation of Google's Terms regarding this.

Before spending precious $$$'s I like to pass it by my pals on the forums!

I understand. Most of the people who signed up originated from SEO Chat. I do not know if anyone in this forum has signed up yet to give you advice.

We will see.

Thank you.

What does this tool do that the free search tools using the Google API do not do?

I am considering GoogleCount, because I don't have time to figure out how to use the Google supplied tools! Looked like it might be beyond my technical expertise.

If you have any hints, let us know!

I am a user of googlecount.

The tool is a benefit to me because I have over 50 optimised pages with 3 t 4 keywords within each page. Googlecount helped me organize my efforts while giving statistics on search rankings. From that information I can target the url and the term withi the page that needs additional optimization. This is a real time saver for me. It's a great tool if you have many pages and terms to manage.

I signed up from the info on this forum. I have only used the free version to date, but I think it is great information. I also found it accurate. I am considering buying the full featured version.
