Hello,

This is my first post to the forum. It appears to be a good resource. Here's my problem and I'm well aware that I have a lot of company.

My website www.phototouch.biz (Head's PhotoTouch) was ranking fairly well with Google (top 5 or 6 pages) until recently. I've been reading up on the Florida algorithm update and tried the search using a negative search parameter (photo restoration -anywordwilldo) as I saw suggested in a couple of articles I read. This didn't make any difference in my position, supposedly indicating that I have not been penalized.

When you search Google or Alexa on my primary keyword phrases (photo restoration or photo retouching) my site comes up way down low. Don't try it, you could wind up with carpel tunnel syndrome trying to dig deep enough to find it.

To the best of my knowledge I've done nothing that would be seen as spamming or trying to game the system. I use Microsoft "Submit it" to post to the search engines and closely followed their optimization guidelines before submitting. I resubmit about once a month.

I still rank very well with Ask Jeeves (on the first page with both keyword phrases) but I just don't get what happened to me at Google.

I was using Google Adwords but I've paused my campaign until I get this figured out. I know that's probably not the smartest marketing decision at this point but I don't want to hand money over to a company that buried me in the "normal" web search position. A matter of principle, I guess.

If anyone could offer a suggestion I'd surely appreciate it.

Thanks,
Ken Head

By the way, my username "headmonger" may seem a bit strange, but it's a nickname some of my troops gave me when I returned to Saudi Arabia a few years after serving in Desert Storm (I'm a retired First Sergeant). A combination of my last name and warmonger. However, like most military people, I'm by no means a war monger. I still like the nickname though. Hmmmm

Sorry, no live links until you've made 10 posts

Welcome, Ken

Sorry, but I had to remove your live link. Our guidelines require you to make 10 posts before you can link to other sites.

The Florida update is history, and the -nonsense doesn't work anymore, but there's a new update going on right now. Around here, it's going by the name Gladys and you can read up about it in this thread.
