A new directory have just arrived: Directory Search, the professional business directory

www.directory-search.org

Directory Search is based on cross-referenced categories in order to facilitate the search of professionals, looking for them by theme and location.

The directory is still empty, but I invite you to add your professional web pages to fill it bit by bit.

Greetings

Welcome Directorysearch!

I took a look at your site and have to tell you, I wouldn't add my site to a directory that also included "Sex Sites" as one of the 4 categories.

I would recommend a serious business directory focus on business, then set up a separate directory for "adult" traffic. Mixing the two probably is a bad idea. You'll probably get more traffic to the "sex sites" than the business (just the way the Internet is) but I doubt people looking for porn are also going to pick out a professional service in the same directory.

Scottie, while I agree with your analysis of the layout of the directory in question, I think you should appologize to the adult industry for questioning their professionalism. :D

Umm, might help if you had an 'add url' link. I went through the categories and couldn't see one anywhere. Maybe I'm going blind in my old age.

LOL!

If you define "professional" as "getting paid for services" then I stand corrected. :D

Mark, I found that you need to drill down all the way to the deepest level to find an "add URL" link.

No problem. While we're on the subject, there's another new directory out there which I don't believe has been mentioned here yet: www.websavvy.cc

I don't want to sound mean, but I think DirectorySearch is designed just to make money off of Google ads. I never found a single site other than Google Ads in the entire things. They even have "world" and "country" categories.

If they wanted to expand it would be a good idea to have an add URL link on every page which at least explained the process by which listings can be added.

poll question: what is your favorite adult professional website?

The initial idea of the directory was to cover all the "pay" products and services over the Internet. Sex sites conforms a great part of this kind of sites... so we included a main category for this.

But we have discovered that the sex category is not well accepted, and perhaps it doesn't suits well with the cross-reference style... so we'll develop another different sex-related directory.

Mark, I found that you need to drill down all the way to the deepest level to find an "add URL" link.

Yes, you must get both an specific "theme" and an specific location. You can't submit in "World" as well as you can't submit in "Top". But it seems to be necessary an explanation for this.

Obviously we use AdSense to earn money, it's plain to see ;)
But, it is not the main objective, of course. As I said the directory is still empty, but we hope it will grow gradually.

I'm just writing to talk about an improvement we have accomplished in Directory Search.

Taking into account comments coming from different forum users, we have changed a bit the location thing. Many people were not totally satisfied with the way we managed the urls submitted (geographically).

Now the way of browsing the directory is a bit different. As we explain in the directory itself:

"By specifying a location you are only refining the entries shown in each category. Urls located in a specific location (for instance, Chicago) are also shown in more general ones (Illinois, United States, North America and "World")"

So you can even forget the location structure and browse "global" sites (and, although you must submit urls to a specific category, your web sites will appear as "global" for those not worried about locations).

We have changed the subject categories structure too. And many of you will note the PR increase as well ;)

Hope this makes the directory more useful.

Regards.
