Hi Guys/Gals thumbup1.gif

I’m trying to increase my position in the SERP’s. I’m currently looking around for backlinks related to my website, what’s the best way to judge a page’s value in terms of acquiring a backlink?

Any feedback much appreciated biggrin.gif

Many Thanks

Easy. For pages you link to, is the page in question going to provide value to your site visitors if you direct them to it (via a link)? If yes, then link to it. If no, then don't.

For pages you want a link from, well, whatever you can get, for starters!

Hi Jill biggrin.gif

How do I know if the page I’m getting a link from is worthwhile? What things do I need to look?

Thanks

Welcome pooey ! hi.gif

About all you can look for where the search engines are concerned is whether or not the page doing the linking is actually included in the index (see if they're cached) and whether or not links from it or nofollow'd, are being written by Javascript or are being processed by an SE Un-friendly jump script. I rather doubt that's the information you were looking for, given the way you phrased the question.

Beyond the above you're wasting your time looking at anything else where the engines are concerned, since they're not going to tell you how much value they give a link from any page.

Now if you forget about the search engines and target links from sites/pages that just happen to attract the type of visitors you'd like you capture the attention of you'll be a lot better off. You'll get qualified traffic from the links, as well as most likely some link popularity value.
