Hi everybody,

Just to let you know. When Florida arrived, I lost my good ranking on Google (first on first page with "lodging quebec") and got lost in limbo. Check www.lodging-quebec.com

I knew where the problem was: I had put hard link (with the full domain name: [http://www.lodging-q...com/index.html]) on every link on the index.html page. Which gave me very good results until Florida.

I left it like that for a while, but finally decided to put soft link instead of hard link and remove the domain name from the links. Normally we shouldn't be penalized to use our domain name in our links, but I have over 900 links in that first page. And I don't exagerate, because the site is made to be fast and efficient, and It's one good way of doing it for people searching for lodging.

So after about a week of removing the hard link, I came back first on first page. What can I ask more? (That Google stops playing around with algos...) But this is over optimistic...

So if you lost position after Florida, it pays to remove the excess of keywords in your pages.

Hopes this helps,

Pierre Forget

when you got back the ranking if it is after Jan 24th then it should be because of the Gladys update,

Hi,

Thanks for the update. I will leave the site as is for the moment, and sit and relax for a while. I try not to over react, because I already have good figures anyway as far as traffic is concerned, generated by Google or else.

As I'm getting over 2.5G of traffic already, I'm not panicking. As this is a fairly new site, I guess I am happy anyway. Even when Google put me down, the traffic was growing anyway. So, if they put me back online, it's just OK for me!

Have a nice evening everybody,

Pierre Forget

Hi again,

One more thing. I also have a French version of my site, and it also had disappeared from Google because of using "hebergement-quebec" too many times. I did not remove the hard links on this one and it didn't come back on the position it was before the Florida update. But the English site did come back after removing the "lodging-quebec" too many times a few weeks ago.

So I did the same yesterday for the French version and I will see if it comes back.

I will get you posted.

Nice evening,

Pierre Forget
