I was wondering if anyone has used this software. Hate It? Love It? Better alternatives to it?

I would discourage any automated submission programs. Best to submit by hand to directories and smaller search engines that have add URL forms and then allow the big crawlers to find your site on their own.

Usually mass submission programs only result in getting your email address added to thousands of spam email lists and then you can figure out what happens from there!

hi ACDC,

I believe that DMOZ, has it in its guidelines that any autosumbitted site goes directly in the bin. The weird thing is that you only have to submit once, and it is this myth about submitting every month that actually sells this auto submit software.

Go in, do the job right, look at the other sites titles etc in your cat, as the bloke who approved those sites is likely to be the bloke approving yours, follow his/her lead, and submit it. Chances are that he/she will like what you have done and Bobs your uncle.

hmmmm... I thought Bob was my uncle... guess he gets around...

Auto or bulk submitters will only get you into trouble.
If done properly you only need to submit one page once to each negine and some will eventually come across you when they spider the other engines or sites where you have links.

I remember being told it was always better to have Google find you... the process for listing is quicker... thus the Yahoo directory listing path... but ultimately you need to have a site map on that page so the rest of your site gets looked at.

Remember the robots.txt files to make the spider visits more effective... keep them out of the images folders etc...

Use offpage style sheets... both css and js.

naturally this will be a biased reply

However most users do not know that you can use SubmitWolf to submit to all the Search Engines manually as well.

It has all the Engine in a nice easy to find and navigate section, where it opens in the ADD URL page of the particular Search engine, such as DMOZ, AltaVista ...etc... all the engines that require a manual submission and also all engines that also accept automated submissions...

As a note SubmitWolf does not submit to DMOZ automatically.

Plus we also obtain authorization from the Search engines to be included. Any that do not want to be are removed or added to our manual folder.

In relation to spam, yes this is very common if you submit to the FFA style engines... that is why these are seperated in SubmitWolf.. so it is your choice as to how you use SubmitWolf... if you want to submit to the FFA sites then be prepared for a lot of thank you emails "spam".

Cheers and all the best.

however I can not vouch for other automated submission tools... as I am sure that they may not bother.

Cheers

I think you should do directories manually and automate the rest.

I have had good success with automated submissions to google.

Listing in directories will automate the search engine submission process...the search engine will follow the links from the directories.

Really, as opposed to what?? I have never, ever, ever submitted to Gogoel. So any result you got is probably purely coincidental.

Really, I don't know what teh Autosubmitters cost, but spend that money of Jill's Copywriting Course, or alternately on KimKrause's ebook. Both seem like better value to me!!!!

Umm...to clarify...
I don't actually have a Copywriting Course. Just a writing for the search engines handbook. Karon is the one with a Copywriting Course. And Kim has a usability checklist type thingee...not sure if she has an ebook yet (unless she put one out this week while I was on vacation!).
