Just wondering why the contracting/subcontracting forum on High Rankings doesn't get many replies. Seems like there are a lot of businesses that are looking for SEO people. You'd think there would be SEO people looking for freelance work... maybe I'm in the wrong line of work

Right. We don't want to turn the forum into a place for bidding wars, or even for self-promotion, so if you need some work done you can request it on the forum, but we can't have people responding to the request here. That's why we close every thread in that area as soon as we find it.
