How much more effective do you think a site wide link is vs just a link from the home page? Factor in that the home page is where most of the links and PR are pointed to. Would having more links from the same domain give more weight than just from the home page?

Some think that sitewide links are devalued to some degree where passing of link popularity is concerned. The theory does make some sense. However there is no way to prove or disprove it since only the search engines themselves can see which links pass value and which don't.
