SEMNE: Getting Into Google
When: July 10, 2007 from 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM
Where: Marriott Providence Downtown - Providence, RI
Presenter: Dan Crow, Product Manager for crawl systems, Google, Inc.

I'm just wondering if anyone else here from the forum will be in attendance, and if so, what you're looking forward to most.

Being responsible for the optimization of more than 800 web sites that use Flash as a primary source of information, I'm eager to speak with Dan Crow and learn more about the crawling abilities that Google is developing.

I think one of the most telling pieces of information I've heard of on Flash indexing was the following quote from an interview with Dan...

(speaking with regards to indexing Flash based media)
"We clearly need to figure this out... it's not been the highest on our priority list, but in the last six months it has become more so."

Either way, I'm excited about tomorrow's event and hope to meet others there. Give me a shout if you're planning on being there!

I'll be there smile.gif

Here's the link to Getting Into Google for those who may not have heard about it yet. There are a few seats left if you still want to get in!

Dan is going to take tons of questions, so your concerns should be right up his alley. Jonathan Hochman, a moderator here (jehochman) and SEMNE corporate member, will also be at the event. He's written and spoken about optimizing Flash websites as well.

Eric, I look forward to seeing you there!

1dmf the High Rankings® Seminar is coming to the UK Oct. 3&4. Do you promise you'll come and tell all your friends?

We really want to make a big push for this seminar, and any local help we can get would be great! (We should probably start a new thread for this, as SEMNE is a completely different animal than the seminars!)

The guy from the UK went to work for Google in New York. He's going to the Providence event and then returning to New York. Jill is going to the UK. Alan's already there.

Well, being "responsible" and being "the only one working on" are two different things. We've got a team here of nine, eight of whom will be attending tonight's event who all have their hands in on these sites. When you're a niche service provider with a well established product though -- managing these is not nearly as difficult as it may sound.

Just back from tonight's SEMNE event...it totally ROCKED!

Dan Crow was simply terrific and answered as many questions as he could. The info was awesome, very much like the kind we dispense here at HR every day. It's very cool to have Google confirm what we already know!

I'll be writing up a synopsis of what he talked about, for the High Rankings® Advisor newsletter this week, so stay tuned!

This was definitely the most well-attended SEMNE event so far, and quite a success. Thanks to all who showed up, and all the SEMNE members as well. Also to Wordtracker who was a sponsor.

It just came out! Here's where you can see the photos and a quickie write-up of the Getting into Google event. And here's where you'll find the longer write-up with the real meat of how to get into Google.
