If I buy links on a good site and they are placed under a header that says 'Sponsors', 'Affiliates' or 'Paid Link' , do any of the search engines weight these links differently than links under, say, a 'blogroll' or a 'related sites' header?

I think that was the most commonly place where your links will
be placed. Not unless you ask for the other location in their
homepage you wanted your links to be put.
