SEO Research - the folks who do a great job of outsourcing WordTracker research for many of us - used to include a calculation I've found valuable called Competition Index. It purported to measure the level of difficulty required to get into the top ten in Google for a given keyword. I believe it was a quantification of a few factors, mostly the PageRank and level of optimization, of the top ten sites in Google for any given keyword.
They seem to have abandoned that because it's lost accuracy after the Florida update.
Does anyone have any thoughts on factors to consider instead? What's likely to become the successor to the Competition Index? (If anything ...)
