So for those types of resources (and any other that will publish any article at all about SEO/SEM), you have to evaluate who the actual author of the article is and judge their level of expertise and knowledge. (I'm not going to do that here as I have enough enemies!)
And unfortunately, we all know that the major media sources, Forbes, NYT, etc. often provide the worst and most inaccurate info. But it's understandable why Wikipedia would want/need to reference those ones.
But honestly, a very brief look at the references in that Wiki article look to be fine.

I want to add for the good of the world, however also look at WikiPedia as being a great attractor of traffic to websites I have worked on.
Am I a bad person ! thinking that. Aware that can't effect rankings due to 'no follow'.
Think it is because for soooo long now, I have been doing ethical SEO, and hear WikiPedia n Microsoft issue (not sure if true) and then, I think oh if I submit (as an SEO) then they will think I am dodgy.
And another thing, I have heard it is tres complicated to set up.
Can someone tell me it's not a scary place and it will take me X amount of time to do an entry.
