www.musicpromotiongroup.com

General
Is this site completed or under construction?
completed

If completed:
How long has the site been up?
Since Feb.

SEO
Do you have incoming links? yes, a few

What keywords are you targeting? internet music promotion, online street teams, online music marketing

Do you want your code reviewed for errors or improvements? no thanks

Marketing
Who is your target audience?
Musicians (specifically country musicians), important people at record companies, artist managers, people who can afford to promote themselves/ their artist

Why is your site different from sites selling/offering similar info/goods/services? Why will someone want to do business you?
We have a somewhat unique approach to building online street teams- instead of a large pool or people who may not like the artist that much, we only take people who are fans. We also are smaller than some of our competitors, so we are able to provide more support.

What is the purpose of the site? (inform, sell, online community, support B&M business, contact info only, etc)
to gain business, increase credibility and get out name out.

Design
Do you want design suggestions? no thanks

The first thing I would do in your case, try to place scripts in an external file. Also consider using the <noscript> tags, as SE cannot read JavaScript & Co.

Hi Jenny

My only comment is this.....

I accessed your site from my personal PC which is less than a year old. To get your homepage I had to download a Flash upgrade. Normally, unless I'm really interested, I think 'b****r it' and don't bother.

Maybe your audience is different. Liked the page when I got it.

Too funny, I just attended a Web seminar online less than an hour ago concerning friction. Anyway, your contact page requires too much information (or too much friction). I can imagine someone asking "why do I have to fill out this lengthy form to just contact you" and you've lost them. I would suggest just an email address or name and phone number. Make it short, sweet, and easy.

The design is innovative but I don't know how search engine friendly it is.
Hope that helps.
Lise

Have you done any research to find the phrases your market is using. I like the site and I'm sure that there is a market for this type of business. Take some time and use one of the keyword research tools, Keyword Discovery or Wordtracker to do some research. Also it wouldn't hurt to have some testimonials from clients.

Can I ask what you were going for with the design of the logo? I assume the large characters are supposed to be MPG, but they look like MR3 to me.

Thanks guys.

Copywriter- A lot of this kind of business is the networking aspect. So, while I definitely want to rank for keywords, a lot of it is just about having a site. I have done some research, but I'm sure there's room for more!

and yes, there's definitely a business for this kind of thing. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if it'll take off with the amount of time we devote to it, mainly because we're not located in Nashville.

Ignoramus- Thanks, I'll probably have to check into that. Our main audience (country music decision makers) are not that web savvy in my experience. (Namely I say that because country artists are way behind in online promotion stuff.)

Qwerty- I didn't design it, but now that you mention it, it does look a bit like mp3. I guess when we looked at it initially, it looked like mpg because that's what we knew it was going to say. hmmm...

Lise- Thanks for the advice. It is a bit long. (btw, I love your name smile.gif )

Jenny - a question for you.

You've said that "Our main audience (country music decision makers) are not that web savvy in my experience."

Your site is very 'feature rich' with lots of bullet points. Do you think using phrases like...

"user friendly content management system"

"...design tools like Flash,ASP...."

"customised internet marketing package"

"search engine optimised"

...might be a bit too 'corporate' and technical for them ?

hmm....yes, that is a good question. I suppose I need to do more research on this.

Though now that I think about it, I may have spoke to soon in saying that. We talk to a lot of managers, who are fairly aware of these things.

But yes, I should look into this. Thanks for pointing that out.

I'm sure it's very early days but I'd look at generating links from the bullet points on the what we do pages - build up an internal structure to the site. smile.gif

Jenny,

Sorry to say, but the site doesn't really appear to have any on-page SEO done. The title tags are practically the same on every page, there's no keyword phrase use in the copy (the little that is even on the pages), and there doesn't appear to have been any kwr done.

Research your keywords, find all the ones that relate to what you offer, then figure out what types of pages you need within your site that will be focused around them. Right now, the site is pretty thin on content.

google doesn't like such pages...
for people it looks great but not for search engines.
the white background doesn't seem to fit there

Where are you doing your networking? Are you simply handing out business cards to show you have a site. Saying you just having a site is no longer enough. It should be a marketing tool.
