Hello Everyone,

I am an authorized online seller for [company removed] selling treadmills, etc. I have a merchant account, take payments in my bank account and ICON drop ships. I needed to change my bank accounts and do a name change to my new parent company and [the merchant company] told me the bank denyed me!?

Sorry if I am all over the place with this...

Anyway, [the merchant company] told me that since I do not hold the products the bank doesn't want to approve me and the underwriter didn't catch this the 1st time around under my original name. Does this sound correct?

I was a Stomper member and they were all over the idea of making sure I had my own cart and making the products my own when [company] gave me the option. So I thought for sure it wouldn't come back to bite me...

I wouldn't mind so much using [company's] cart but the link would take my customer from my site to their site or [another] site. I don't think that would convert... what do you think? Also, I don't think the PayPal or Google checkout would convert well since there is the sign-up issue for both prior to purchasing?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Sincerely,
Jeff Knize

That doesn't sound right to me. I was recently at a trade show where there was someone trying to sell credit card processing merchant accounts and there was no problem because I drop ship but banks can be funny, you may just need to use another merchant. If you need the information on that one or another I know of, PM me. FYI, Paypal doesn't require you to sign up anymore...they will just process a credit card without that hassle. They're making an effort to streamline the process (that's who I use).

Thanks for the reply lisety. I will let you know if I need more help. I tryed your other recommendation for a programmer from [removed] or something and they couldn't help my other issue. I need to be able to frequently change free shipping on my site where customers will see if there is free shipping or other promo's. It needs to flow through on all of my pages. My manufacturer changes promo's daily like on this site where the 100off banner is - [removed]. If you know anyone that can help please let me know.

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff,
I'll email this post to a couple of people I know. Tomorrow the moderators will be online and they are a very knowledgeable group and I'm sure they'll be able to help you much more than I can!

Start looking for a new merchant processor Jeff. Shop around a bit to see how good of a deal you can get. And be completely up front that orders are placed through your site, then the items are drop shipped directly from your supplier.

Many, if not most, allow such transactions.

WorldPay definitely allow for drop shipping merchants.

I just looked up WorldPay and they're very expensive, there are other services out there that will offer merchant services for much less for drop shipping, especially if you only do business in the US. In fact, Paypal is much less expensive.

Thanks for all of your posts. I really appreciate the quick replys. I was approved today by another Bank and find the fees to be reasonable.

Jeff

Hi!

I believe that the terms of your merchant account require that you not charge your customer until the order has been shipped.

Regards,

Stephen :-)
