I have a friend who is listed in Google's local listings and wants to add a link to my site in his listing. It would be a one way link.

My question is would it benefit my site and how. Would G even consider it a link of any value.

Any link to your site that might provide traffic is good. Why would you turn it down?

Google will not penalise your site if your friend linked to you.

As Jill said if it brings traffic that is a good thing.

Whether or not Google places any value depends on a number of things. Primarily that is, is the link on topic and providing relevancy for the users. In bound links will contain different values.

Be sure to ask him to put within the anchor text of the link keyphrases important to your organization.
