Hello,
I have been building up my list of SEO clients for the last 3 years having previously worked for a Internet Consultancy.
A few of my larger clients sites are in the position where the links come to me, therefore I dont have to search though the net, but recently a few new clients have been taken on with a few more in the pipeline.
My question is now I am at the point where I need to manage the side of 'building links' and 'link popularity'. I have no intenton of using automated emails or software. I only use links that are relevant to the site/subject.
I was thinking of using a simple spreadsheet for each of the sites and just enter data such as site URL, contact name, email address, dates etc...
Is this the kind of thing that other SEO people do/use? I just want to get something simple and effective set up before I move on...
Thanks!

That sounds similar to what I'm using.

If you're putting that much work into the link building are you charging for that particular service? A lot of SEOs put way too much emphasis on the link building side of the business. Make sure YOU get a return on your investment. Don't just track links for the sake of tracking links.
