Hello,

I'm somewhat new to SEO but have been working on optimizing a client's website for search engines over the past 30-40 days. I have made a huge impact on his site (was not appearing in the top 100 in Google, Yahoo, or MSN) and I've got him ranking # 1 or # 2 for his keywords on Yahoo & MSN. I can't, however, seem to make an impact on Google! Can someone with some SEO experience help tell me why his site is non-existent on Google when it's ranked SO high on MSN & Yahoo?

I don't want to list the domain here because my client frequently searches the internet for his company name and I don't want this query to pull up in his results. If you could please send me a private reply, I will provide the domain.

If the site is less than a year old (give or take) then it might be the Google aging delay where new sites just don't rank for a period of time. There are a bunch of threads on that topic on this forum, just do a search.

Mainly because Google isn't Yahoo or MSN. You cannot use one as a measure against the others.

It's only been a month or so, give it time, 3 to 6 months is not uncommon. 6 to 12 months for a new domain.

In this game the one thing you need is patience and you should educate your client to understand that it takes time.

There was some great input on one thread from Torka I believe...(?) About using this time to propel your website into all other marketing areas both online and offline while waiting on Google.

For Google alone does not make for good business. Take advantage of your Yahoo! and MSN listings while improving your other content pages. Just because you are on Top in MSN does NOT put you anywhere in Google (necessarily).

My last client new URL took 9 months and one week to be ranked in Google but was found in their index in 10 days. I have a new one month old one I am working with now... great MSN and Yahoo! results already - I expect another 6 months... give or take.

You will know if Google has spidered your site by searching for you URL - if G has been there, they will tell you. It does not mean you rank, but you have been noticed.

this is crazy, Is there really anything that stops a site from ranking on google, i have a real estate site that is on page 1 for fort worth tx real estate and is 4 months old

I'm not sure the aging delay applies to local businesses like it does for companies competing nationally. The sites I've optimized for local search have ranked within a month and maintaintained them ever since. These have all been new sites. I think if Google already has a business listed in Google Local, they'll list the site that much sooner.

yeah this is my only site that is there, i have 5 others but the fort worth one took off.
