Hi-
Our client has a new site selling authentic experience holidays in Europe - it's approx. 3 weeks old so no ranking - any ideas on how much impact getting some paid links in would make ranking wise? I know about the ageing delay but I was wondering if anyone has any experience of how successful this method of getting paid links has been with brand new sites? I don't want to go to the client with this idea of it's

1) going to cost too much money

2) not make any real difference (unless I can show an upsurge in qualified traffic)

Thanks,

Ady

hey just realised it's my hundredth post smile.gif

Paid links may or may not have any effect on rankings. Regardless it's most likely going to take time before you get any rankings since most people report 6 - 12 months on the aging delay.

I would look into paid links with the aim of getting visitors to your website from those paid links, or run an advertising campaign on SEs.

Just agreeing with MaKa.

Use paid links to get Traffic, not link popularity. And view them strictly from the qualified traffic perspective when deciding which to purchase. Otherwise you're going to be disappointed.

Thanks guys - pretty much confirmed what I feel - paid links so early in a site's lifecycle are all about traffic. we're already running ppc campaigns so if i go back to the clients I don't want to raise their hopes to much with rankings.

All links to your site are good whether they're paid or not. But it's impossible for anyone here to tell you how much help they will be for your rankings.

The only way to know stuff like that is to simply do it and see.

Remember, there are many factors in all this that will make your site different than any other site who may have done something similar. For instance, how competitive are the phrases you're hoping to rank well for? How popular and authoritative are the pages where your link will be hosted?

Plenty of other factors as well.
