Shorter the better i would say, although it is all dependant on who and why you are sending it.
Spam filters can be set by the userto take out almost anything i have mine to remove anything with /F in it (for obvious reasons).

"%" could very well trigger spam filters. I can't recall ever seing one in a legitimate mail, only in spam mail.

strange thing about filters Had mine to filter certain words/phrases one being "getting high" well guess what was getting caught in the spam basket--every notification from this forum. Yes, I know, should have had it added to my address book.
